Remember years ago that clean smooth broadcast quality audio that you only heard from a D-104 and tube final transceivers? You can't get that same quality of audio when you use the D-104 with any of the Solid-State transceivers on the market today. The reason is because of a mismatch in the High Impedance microphone going into a Low Impedance radio. With the MM1 impedance matching circuit you can once again get that same broadcast quality audio from any solid-state radio. This is the easiest to install audio enhancer that you will probably find on the market. Clear easy to understand instructions come with every circuit board you order. The MM1 fits neatly into the base of your microphone with just 3 wires to hook-up. The MM1 is connected in series with the microphone elements + wire. Then the + 9 volt battery wire is connected to a set of the microphone relays to turn it on during transmit. In just a few short minutes the job is done and the microphone is ready to be used once again.
With the MM1 you will also find that a correct impedance match gives the D-104 improved audio drive. You'll find with most D-104's you won't have to use the audio pre-amp that not only makes your audio louder, but also amplifies all that un-wanted background noise too.
The circuit board is small, just (1"X 7/8") and fits into the base of any D-104 (even those with the audio pre-amps). The circuit works well at 8-13.8 V.D.C., but comes with a 9-volt battery snap already installed. So stop fumbling around trying to find the right combination of resistors and capacitors to get the audio quality you remember. Get yourself the MM1 and start using your D-104 microphone again.
