The "In-line Model" works with any Desk, Boom, or Hand Mic, and allows the accessories buttons on newer microphones to be used as normal. The "In-line Model" tuners can only be used for the make of radio and the microphones that are wired for that radio. (You can not use a Kenwood Mic on a model built for Icom radios.)
I can construct the In-line Model for any SSB radio that has been on the market with Mic connectors from a 4-pin to the 8-pin as well as the hard to find S230/S12B jack used on early Collins & Drake radios. If your radio uses a special connector, contact me and I might be able to locate one for your project.
Although many of the newer radios supply 8 VDC on one of the 8-pin Mic connectors, there is no way to know if there is the proper current needed to operate the tuners circuit. To keep from having to re-order a battery powered tuner to replace the customers first order, I now only build the battery powered tuners. Depending on how often the tuner is used, a battery will last 6 - 12 months before it needs to be replaced.
I have been building the 3898 Pecker here in my home for almost 20 years now. I only use quality electronic components. Every tuner is tested before it is packaged and ready to be shipped. I have all my circuit boards custom made by K&F Electronics, they are professional in their quality and will give you years of trouble free service.
Made of black plastic with rubber feet, the custom enclosure is very small. Just 2 5/8"L. X 1 1/8"H. X 2 5/8"W. The output cable is approximately 10" long so that the tuner stays in front of the operator and ready to be used. Output cables are available up to 6' by special order. Cost is determined by the length requested.

As of May 22, 2008 I do not make tuners for radio's with the RJ45 or Modular connectors. I plan to introduce the Modular connector models soon. Please keep checking back, I will list them when I get some built. I do have most 8-pin standard round Mic connectors. I try to keep Kenwood, Icom, Yaesu 8-pin tuners in stock and ready to ship most of the time.
Special Orders.
A special order is; any thing other then the 8-pin Kenwood, Icom, & Yaesu with the standard length out-put cable.Tuners can be special ordered with cables up to 6 foot in length. Extra cost is determined by the extra length requested.
I can build your tuner with 4, or 5-pin connectors as well as the hard to find Collins & Drake S230 jack. If I didn't list what you need, contact me before you decide not to order.
If you should have a special order, I request a 5 - 7 day build time once payment has been made.
